Long Task 3.

Lotsa Dots

Make a row of four dots, using just black and white dots.

Make another row underneath your first one, using the rules:

Two of the same colour gives a white below.

Two different colours gives a black below.

Your second row will be one dot shorter than your first.

Keep making shorter rows until you get down to one dot.

The question is:

Can we tell straight away from the starting row

what the colour of the final dot will be?

What about if you start with five dots?

With any number of dots?
