So you’re stuck with your homework…

You could –

1. Phone or chat with a friend –
make a few buddies who study maths too that you can trust to have helpful ideas.

2. Consult a textbook – either the one that you have been given,
or there are others in the library,
or there are some in our classrooms that you might find helpful.

3. Try a website. The Maths-at Paston Student Page links to lots of helpful pages,
Let me know if you know of sites you find especially useful!

4. Come to a Help Session. Pete and I run these on a regular basis,
so look for posters that advertise them, or ask us when they are.

5. Ask us for help at other times. We are often available at lunch, break, and in free periods;
we cannot promise to around all the time, but take pot luck, and we will do our best to help if we can.

6. Try emailing us.
We can't promise to get back to you immediately, but we will try to help as quickly as we can.

Jonny Griffiths
Danny Hoskin
Christine Kimber

(An email address at Paston is always firstname.surname@paston.ac.uk)

7. Try finding a website that offers help from a teacher. You could try:
NRICH
You will have to register, but you can then use their 'Ask a Mathematician' service.
They are really quick getting back, usually 15 minutes or quicker.

If you can get started on your homework swiftly,
rather than leaving things to the last minute, then you will have more strategies available to you.

If you take up the above ideas, you should be able to at least attempt all of your homework in some detail.
And remember, working alone on your homework is very good practice for working alone in your exam!
